Why SmallPaws?
At SmallPaws we are the only Pet Hotel in Sydney to cater for social small & toy dog breeds (10kg or under) only. We also have 30 years of experience, spacious well maintained grass exercise areas, the serene ambiance, nurturing and enrichment, qualified staff to truly care for your dog. Here at SmallPaws we also have an all-inclusive daily rate, which includes nightly accommodation in one of our levels of fully air-conditioned/heated buildings of your choice, daily room service and approximately six hours per day playing in one of our grassy play areas with other small dogs with a similar temperament. During this time outside, our guests also receive two hours of enrichment from one of our lovely animal attendants.
We are open for private dog tours by appointment only from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm Tuesday through to Saturday during school term only.
Caring for your dog
As we believe in the importance of exercise for your pet’s health and well-being, our guests have complimentary access to the grassed garden areas from morning to late afternoon. We also have an air-conditioned/heated indoor play area.
We have a large indoor air-conditioned/heated play area in which our guests will have a number of supervised play times during the course of the day.
All of our accommodation is heated and air-conditioned. On wet, extremely hot, or cold days we have an air-conditioned/heated indoor playroom for the dogs to use.
We offer the choice of solo or shared accommodation in all four levels of our dog accommodation. We do recommend that all fussy eaters and tiny tots (3.5kg or under) book solo accommodation. All of our rooms and suites are large enough to comfortably accommodate two dogs.
We do administer medications (excluding injections) between the hours of 7.30am – 4.00pm every day and there is no additional charge. Please ensure each medication is clearly marked with your pet’s name and dosage level.
Of course not, we love our older guests; many of them have been coming here since they were puppies. We have a special outdoor area for the older dogs to explore, and our heated /air-conditioned accommodation ensures that they are always at a comfortable temperature. Medication, eye, and ear cleaning are all part of our standard care.
With our collective experience in pet care, it is easy for us to see when your dog is ‘off-colour’. Our local vet at Terrey Hills is only a few minutes from here and is ‘on-call’. We will always contact you or your designated emergency contact if we detect a problem.
We ask that all of our guests over the age of 6 months be de-sexed. This prevents any dominance behavioural issues arising.
Food
Included in our daily rate we provide Prime 100 Chicken and Vegetable loaf and Supercoat Dry Food. We also stock My Dog tinned variety and Blackhawk Dry Food for our more fussy guests. However, for our pampered pooches we also provide a choice of either cooked chicken breast or a new gourmet food selection Prime 100 slow cooked meals at an additional cost. Please ask Reception for further information.
We understand, that many pets have special dietary requirements and requests. You are welcome to bring their special diets with them, but ask that wet food is packed into daily portions and clearly labeled. We cannot offer a discount if you do supply your own food.
A common problem for all of us! We can organize a weight loss regime covering food and exercise for your dog whilst they are here.
Most guests are enjoying their food within a day or 2 of arriving. However, occasionally we have a dog that loses their appetite when they first come to stay. After 30 years in the business, we know how to encourage our guests to relax and eat their food. We spend lots of time talking to them, making them feel safe and settled. Of course we will always contact you if we feel we need to order in some special food to temp their appetite!
We can brush your dog daily, but there will be a small charge as it can take a while to do it properly. Many of our dogs spend many hours outside playing and running around. We cannot guarantee that your long haired dog won’t go home with some extra ‘play’ knots!
Prices, Discounts & Cancellations
Our prices vary between peak and off-peak season, the level of accommodation and whether you choose solo or shared occupancy. All of our dog guests receive a complimentary Bondi Wash spa bath the afternoon before departure and a spritz of Harlow Harry cologne the morning of departure. We do not charge for the day of departure if your dog is picked up before 10:00 am. We do not charge extra to give your dog their daily exercise. However, it is possible to purchase extra ‘one on one’ playtimes, grooming and treats for your pet.

We offer a 5% discount off the price of the accommodation for family dogs sharing the same room and for families with a single dog and a cat. For paid dog walks, photos, video sessions and Playtime only one session is charged when the family pets are sharing the session.
Yes, we offer a 10% discount for stays of longer than 3 weeks during the off-peak season only.
Yes, we offer all Seniors a 10% discount in The Lodge accommodation during our off-peak season.
Off-Peak Cancellation Policy
All bookings during off-peak require a non-refundable $100 deposit to be paid via a Bank Transfer or Credit Card within 24 hours to confirm your booking. If the deposit is not received within 24 hours your booking will not become active and will be cancelled. Once your deposit has been received, we will make your booking active and you will receive an automated confirmation email.
Cancellations of off-peak bookings if cancelled within 7 days of the start date of your booking, the deposit will be forfeited. If cancelled with more than 7 days notice the $100 deposit will retain as a credit only. Credit is valid for 12 months from the start date of your booking.
Peak Season Full Payment Cancellation Policy
Full payment of a peak season booking (relevant to any booking during a NSW private or public school holiday period and all long weekends), must be made within 48 hours to confirm your booking. If payment is not received within 48 hours your booking will not become active and will be cancelled. Once full payment has been made there will be no refund or credits issued if the booking is cancelled or changed unless the Australian Federal Government introduces domestic and international travel restrictions as a direct consequence of Covid 19 or if minimum 3 months notice is given. If such restrictions are introduced, monies will be retained, and a credit given for an equal dollar amount. The credit is valid for a 12-month period from the issued date.
Peak Season Change-of-Date Policy
Once full payment of a peak season booking (relevant to any booking during a NSW private or public school holiday period and all long weekends) has been made there will be no refund or credits issued for an early checkout unless the Australian Federal Government introduces domestic and international travel restrictions as a direct consequence of Covid 19 or if minimum 3 months notice is given. If such restrictions are introduced, monies will be retained, and a credit given for an equal dollar amount. The credit is valid for a 12-month period from the issued date.
Arriving & What to Bring
We supply comfy beds here for all of our guests. However, if your dog loves their bed, and finds it comforting, please bring it with them. We can’t guarantee that bedding will go home or come back in the same condition that it arrived (although we do try!). We do allow one bed/blanket and one toy per pet to be brought in. If you’re concerned, please purchase a bed from a discount store and have your dog use it a few nights prior to arrival. Their scent will then be on the bed and will still be a comfort to them.
You are welcome to bring one, clearly marked toy, but toys often ‘go walkabout’ and we can’t guarantee the toy will return home!
We are proud to announce that we now have our very own Pet Taxi service starting from the 1st February 2023 running Monday to Friday for selected suburbs on the Northern Beaches and North Shore (we will be expanding our covered areas in the near future).

We require all dog guests to have a current C5 vaccination. If your pet has been recently vaccinated, or due to be vaccinated prior to arrival, this must be done at least 7 days prior to boarding.
We will ask to see your record of vaccination when you board with us. We also strongly recommend all dogs are vaccinated against Leptospirosis.
